Skylar Hunsaker, founder of John Rae Excavation, began his journey in excavation and septic work in 2005. Growing up in Hyrum, Utah, and later moving to Tremonton, Skylar developed a strong appreciation for small-town values, hard work, and taking care of people the right way. What started as a job quickly became a passion, as he discovered an entire world of excavation, underground utilities, and septic systems that most people never see. From day one, he was eager to learn everything he could, constantly working to better understand the industry and how to solve problems the right way.
Today, John Rae Excavation proudly serves Northern Utah and Southern Idaho, including Box Elder, Cache, and Rich counties in Utah, along with Oneida, Franklin, and Bannock counties in Idaho. Skylar has built his reputation on reliability, communication, and treating customers the way he would want his own family treated.
One of the core values behind every project is simple: Skylar approaches each job as if he were doing the work for his own 70 year old grandmother. Every recommendation, repair, and installation is done with the mindset of asking, “Would this be good enough for someone I care about?” That perspective has helped shape a company focused on honesty, long term solutions, and doing the job right the first time.
